THOMPSON STATEMENT ON FUNDING FOR WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS |
|
View Comptroller’s letter to Governor Paterson
New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the allocation of $220 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for water infrastructure improvements to New York City.
“I want to thank Governor Paterson and the members of our City’s congressional delegation for securing this funding. The allocation of these funds will help create jobs and ensure that we make much needed improvements to our City’s water infrastructure, especially as it relates to areas of our City that have been ravaged by flooding in recent years.
I recently wrote the Governor advocating for the use of federal funds to address the overwhelming needs of the water systems operating throughout the State, especially the New York City Municipal Water Finance Authority. Today’s announcement will help ensure funding for projects that will generate jobs, help the environment, protect our water system and benefit all New Yorkers.”
