THOMPSON STATEMENT ON DEATH OF JOHN MARCHI

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the death of former New York State Senator John Marchi:

“I join New Yorkers today in mourning the loss of John Marchi, whom I had come to know as a man with a generous spirit and a kind heart. During five decades of public service, he championed issues important to New Yorkers, and in particular, strove to ensure the highest standards in our education system. Simply put, he was an institution, and an example others should seek to follow. I extend my condolences to his friends and family, and to all New Yorkers whose lives he enriched.”
