THOMPSON STATEMENT ON BUS SERVICE PROBLEMS FOR BRONX HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today released the following statement regarding the bus service problems being experienced by a number of students who attend Bronx high schools:

“My office was recently notified of the suspension in Bronx Science Bus Service for students who live in Queens due to a fire to the bus fleet last week. The agreement between the service provider and the parents of the students does not fall under the jurisdiction of my office and as such was not subject to registration. However, due to the reportedly ‘suspicious’ nature of this fire, the predicament the families now face due to loss of payment and service, and the out-of-pocket expenses the parents have paid to acquire new services, I am urging the FDNY, NYPD, and Queens District Attorney to closely investigate this incident.”
