New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. issued the following statement regarding his vote at today’s Franchise and Concession Review Committee (FCRC) meeting. The Comptroller voted against the proposed concession agreement to authorize ImPark to operate accessory parking lots for Citi Field.
“The city’s proposal to allow ImPark to operate parking facilities at Citi Field is unwise and could create unnecessary risks for the city.
Last July, my office conducted an audit of New York Skyports, Inc. lease, which revealed significant structural defects and “catastrophic” conditions at the site’s parking garage. ImPark managed the Skyports garage.
Further, despite the recent concerns that my office raised with the City, I did not receive sufficient information that would suggest that the City has examined and taken measures to address those concerns.
Given the outstanding concerns about ImPark’s responsibility to maintain the Skyports garage and the lack of information, I voted against Impark operating accessory parking facilities at Citi Field.”
