COMPTROLLER THOMPSON COMMENDS CLINTON NOMINATION

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. issued the following statement praising President-elect Barack Obama’s decision to nominate Senator Hillary Clinton as United States Secretary of State:

“I wish to congratulate Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on her nomination to become the next Secretary of State. A formidable, lifelong advocate who has served the people of New York with distinction, Senator Clinton will soon be representing our nation to the rest of the world in matters of foreign policy. President-elect Obama could not have made a finer choice.”

“Earlier this month, voters made a clear choice for change because they are tired of business as usual in Washington. I am confident that by working together, President-elect Obama and Senator Clinton will be able to resolve many of the challenging global issues currently facing our nation and our world.”
