THOMPSON STATEMENT ON FISCAL YEAR 2009 BUDGET AGREEMENT

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the agreement between Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the New York City Council on the Fiscal Year 2009 budget:
“This budget agreement recognizes that the City is facing tough economic and fiscal challenges. I applaud the restoration of funding to our schools, which I have long said should be a top priority. Unfortunately, this budget does not fund all deserving programs but instead reflects the challenging fiscal climate.”
