THOMPSON STATEMENT ON NYC OTB REMAINING OPEN FOR BUSINESS

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the continued operation of New York City Off-Track Betting:

“I supported the State’s takeover of New York City Off-Track Betting as a solution to retain the jobs of 1500 hard-working New Yorkers.  Ideally, I would have liked to see a new formula take effect that would have allowed New York City to collect our fair share of the pie, but since that could not be accomplished, I think the Mayor was right to hold out and see to it that New York City collected some form of revenue from the operations at NYC OTB.”
