THOMPSON: CITY MUST KEEP PROMISE
TO SENIORS |
|
New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. issued the following statement in support of the Council for Senior Centers and Services rally this morning. At the event, hundreds of seniors from across the City turned out to demand that City Hall maintain funding for senior services and centers.
“The City must take a more thorough and considered approach before embarking on a wholesale restructuring that could permanently damage the way it provides vital services to our seniors,” Thompson said. “We believed that City had heard the voices of seniors when they agreed to delay the RFP process, and yet DFTA is still giving short shrift to all stakeholders. The administration does not seem to understand that seniors deserve high-quality, ethnically appropriate meals, the one-on-one interaction that meal delivery provides to many homebound seniors, and a comprehensive promotion of healthy aging.”
