THOMPSON STATEMENT ON CHARGES AGAINST ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR

View Queens DA press release

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. issued the following statement regarding today’s announcement that electrical contractor Arie Bar and his company, AAR/Co Electrical, Inc., have been charged with defrauding employees out of approximately $656,000 by failing to pay them the prevailing wags on six public works projects:

Today’s action by Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown sends a strong reminder to contractors doing business with the City that they cannot evade their legal responsibilities to comply with prevailing wage laws. Contractors should think twice before cheating workers out of prevailing wages, or they could face serious consequences like Arie Bar and Aar/Co Electrical, Inc. I thank the Queens District Attorney’s Office for its hard work on this case and for standing up for working New Yorkers.
