COMPTROLLER THOMPSON STATEMENT ON DELAY OF SENIOR CENTER REFORMS
New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. joins senior citizens from across the city and the Council of Senior Centers and Services at a City Hall news conference on April 10, 2008 to urge the Department for the Aging to listen to the public about its plans to revamp services and senior centers.

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. issued the following statement today concerning the announcement that City Hall plans to slow down the process of reorganizing senior services and centers:

“This announcement is good news for the City’s aging population. I thank the Mayor for acknowledging feedback from the community, from my office, and from others across this city who felt passionately about this fundamental restructuring. This postponement will allow the city to bring more people to the table and to develop a more thorough plan, consider additional partnerships, and reduce the burden on the community-based providers.”
