New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement at the New York Immigration Coalition’s “March for Immigrant New York”:

There is no question that we must address the needs of our city’s growing immigrant population, even as we confront budget challenges amid an already cloudy economic climate.

New York City historically has been a destination for men and women of all races and nationalities seeking opportunity and a better life, and so New York City must take a leading role toward progressive immigration reform.
