New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement at a news conference held by Assemblyman Dov Hikind, announcing the formation of the Black-Jewish Alliance.
“In recent months the noose and the swastika have once again emerged as symbols of hate in America and in our city,” Thompson said. “With the creation of the Black-Jewish Alliance, civic leaders and elected officials of New York City are coming together to confront the hatemongers and say that these symbols and hate have no place in a civilized society.”
The coalition has been formed in response to the recent anti-Semitic and anti-Black hate crimes that have been occurring in the City.
