New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr.
today issued the following statement at a news conference
launching Hispanic Federation’s 12th annual
toy drive:
“At this time of year, it’s important
to recognize that many New Yorkers are unable to celebrate
when they are struggling to hold onto their homes
and put food on the table. I am glad to join this
effort so that, even in some small way, we can show
big hearts and offer needy children a holiday gift.”
Participating in the news conference were: Comptroller
Thompson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony Award winner of
“In the Heights,” Tony Plana of TV hit
“Ugly Betty,” Secretary of State Lorraine
Cortes-Vazquez, Manhattan Borough President Scott
Stringer, and Rafael Toro of Goya Foods.
