COMPTROLLER THOMPSON STATEMENT ON HANUKKAH ATTACKS

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. issued the following statement today about the recent assault on Hanukkah celebrants:

I am outraged by the vicious hate crime committed against four Hanukkah celebrants on the subway last Friday. All New Yorkers deserve the right to publicly celebrate their religious beliefs without fear of being assaulted. The holiday season should be a time of peace and compassion, not bigotry and hatred. I expect that anyone involved in this cruel attack will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
