New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement no the death of Assemblyman John Lavelle:

“John Lavelle was relentless in his advocacy for New Yorkers. John was outspoken in his work to make Staten Island and New York a better place in which to live and work, someone who cared deeply about the future of our children and the safety of our streets. His guiding principle was to do what was right for the people of his community and his city. My thoughts are with John’s family and friends in this time of sadness.”
