Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. made the following statement regarding today’s Court of Appeals decision in the Snapple case:

“Today’s decision recognizes that the marketing of our City’s name deserves a public, transparent process; it represents a victory for accountability over secrecy. The ruling confirms what I have believed all along – that the rights to New York City’s name should be negotiated openly, not in a back room.”
