THOMPSON STATEMENT ON COUNCIL BUDGET INITIATIVE TO PROVIDE SENIOR TAX REBATE

View Council Member Lew Fidler’s release

Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. issued the following statement regarding Council Members Lew Fidler and Leroy Comrie’s introduction of a budget initiative to implement his proposal, City Aid for Senior Homeowners, which would provide seniors larger tax rebates:

“As the costs of home ownership continue to escalate, senior homeowners are forced to make difficult decisions about their living expenses. My proposal, City Aid for Senior Homeowners, or CASH, would broaden the City’s current tax relief program and provide much-needed additional tax relief to seniors living on fixed incomes. Our seniors have helped our City through some very difficult times. It’s time for us to help them as much as we can.”
