Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. issued the following statement regarding the New York State Banking Department’s designation of five new Banking Development Districts (BDDs) in New York State, including three in New York City:

“By participating in the Banking Development District program, New York City has been able to invest in its most underserved communities. The City’s deposits spur economic development and provide the New Yorkers in those communities much-needed banking services such as savings and checking accounts, mortgages and small business loans.”
