STATEMENT BY NEW YORK CITY COMPTROLLER WILLIAM C. THOMPSON, JR. ON MAYOR’S PRELIMINARY BUDGET
New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement on Mayor Bloomberg’s proposed Fiscal Year 2007 Preliminary Budget and four-year financial plan for the City:

“The Mayor’s preliminary budget appears to be in balance. I am pleased that he has addressed future health care costs by creating a health insurance trust fund. The Mayor has identified enhanced revenue sources and not sacrificed essential services. Still, I am concerned that the City continues to face very large budget gaps in the future. This is a consistent challenge that needs to be addressed.”
