THOMPSON APPOINTS NEW DEPUTY COMPTROLLER FOR PUBLIC FINANCE

Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today announced that Carol S. Kostik will serve as Deputy Comptroller for Public Finance. Kostik will assume her new duties on October 30.

Kostik currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the New York City Housing Development Corporation, where she directs the financial management, financial reporting and investments for the agency. Prior to this, she served as Chief Financial Officer for the Nassau County Interim Finance Authority. She also was a Vice President for Public Finance at Merrill Lynch & Co.  Kostik is a Governor of the Municipal Forum of New York.

“Carol Kostik brings a wealth of public and private sector experience to our public finance division. As the City seeks to finance large scale projects, we need creative and knowledgeable people like Carol Kostik bringing their wisdom and expertise to the table,” Thompson said.

"Comptroller Thompson has an outstanding record in debt issuance and strategic fiscal management with a group of top finance professionals," Kostik said. "I look forward to joining Comptroller Thompson and his team."

In her new position, Kostik will be leading efforts to review and implement the City’s debt program and will be Thompson’s representative on the New York City Transitional Finance Authority and the New York City Municipal Water Finance Authority. She will also represent Thompson regarding debt issuance for the New York City Housing Development Corporation, the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, the Trust for Cultural Resources of the City of New York and the Tobacco Settlement Asset Securitization Corporation (TSASC).

Kostik replaces Rita Sallis, who was named Deputy Comptroller/Chief Investment Officer.
