Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. toured several centers and programs in South Brooklyn to meet with constituents and discuss their efforts to assist senior citizens and promote economic growth and development.
“This is an opportunity to listen to and learn from constituents and community leaders,” Comptroller Thompson said. “My office will work with the community to affect positive, lasting changes.”
Thompson toured the Astella Development Corporation in Coney Island, the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island, the Sheepshead Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Sheepshead Bay Local Development Corporation.

The tour concluded with a luncheon at the Palm Beach Assisted Living Residence of Sheepshead Bay, at which he hosted an interactive discussion with various not-for profit organizations and services providers, community boards, local businesses, and residents.
Astella Development Corporation is a not-for-profit community-based organization dedicated to providing affordable housing and commercial revitalization, and improving the quality of life in Coney Island.
The Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island is a private not-for-profit founded in 1973 to provide a wide-spectrum of social services to low-income residents of South Brooklyn, and to foster neighborhood stabilization
