THOMPSON URGES NEW YORKERS TO SUPPORT TSUNAMI RELIEF EFFORTS

Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. made the following remarks regarding the tsunami tragedy in Southern Asia:

“I join all New Yorkers in mourning the devastating loss of life caused by the December 26 th tsunami. I extend my condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the catastrophe, including many families here in New York City, and my thoughts and prayers are with those who are waiting for news of family members and friends in the countries affected by the disaster.

“In this time of crisis, we have a responsibility to do all that we can to help. New Yorkers have shown an outpouring of support for the relief efforts underway in the region, but more aid is needed. Contributions to the organizations listed below will provide much-needed support for the critical, life-saving work being done to help survivors.”

You can donate money to any of the following organizations by mail, phone, or through their web sites, which are listed below. Be sure to specify that your donation is for their tsunami relief efforts.
