THOMPSON: NO SEASONAL BORROWING FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE 1970s

View Quarterly Cash Report, October-December -2004, Second Quarter of FY 2005

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today released his “Quarterly Cash Report,” a comparative analysis of the City’s cash position for the second quarter of FY 2005.

“The City did not need to borrow short-term notes to finance seasonal cash flow needs within the fiscal year for the first time since the financial crisis of the 1970s,” said Comptroller Thompson.

The report shows that the average daily balance of $2.992 billion was greater for the second quarter of FY 2005 than in the second quarter of FY 2004, with $2.822 billion. Thompson’s report also compares cash receipts, tax receipts, cash expenditures, general obligation debt, and capital expenditures for the second quarters of FY 2005 and FY 2004.
