| New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr.’s holiday toy drive successfully collected more than 1,000 toys. The drive was launched last month in order to collect gifts for needy children and youngsters in the city.
The toys were delivered to needy children at youth centers, schools, hospitals and shelters in all five boroughs.
Contributions to the drive were made by several local organizations including The Ludacris Foundation, Health Plus, Youth Dares, South Bronx Board of Trade, Third Avenue BID, Banco Popular, Goodwill Industries, Hispanic Federation, Manhattan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, New York State Federation of Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, KeySpan, Citibank, and the Isabella Geriatric Center.
This is the second year Comptroller Thompson has spearheaded a toy drive. Last year, Thompson’s office collected hundreds of toys and gifts, which were distributed in the Dominican Republic and in New York City.
