STATEMENT BY COMPTROLLER THOMPSON
ON CITY COUNCIL'S TAX PROPOSAL

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today made the following statement in response to the City Council's tax proposal:

"While I am concerned about the overall price-tag of the city council's proposal, I do agree that an across-the-board tax rollback is a far more equitable and better way to ease the tax burden for property owners across the city than a one-shot rebate."
