New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today launched a food and supplies drive to assist U.S. troops serving in the Middle East .
Desperately needed items include hand wipes, lip balm, hand sanitizer, insect repellent, sun block, nail files, foot spray, magazines, movies, hard candy, powdered juice mix, peanut butter, jelly, soup mix, crackers, Vienna Sausage, storage bags, extension cords, sunglasses, flashlights, belts, bootlaces, clotheslines, and board games.
“This humanitarian effort shows our troops that we salute their courage and bravery. Sending aid is our way of thanking them for all of their hard work,” Thompson said
The drive will run until November 30th. Donations can be dropped off weekdays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Office of the New York City Comptroller, 1 Centre Street, Room 1330, New York, N.Y., 10007. A military unit has already agreed to ship our packages overseas at no cost to the Comptroller’s Office.
