Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today announced the appointment
of William F. Lipski as Chief Engineer. Lipski, who has three decades
of experience managing major capital construction projects for New
York City, will start work in September.
Since 1996, Lipski served as Assistant Commissioner for the New
York City Department of Design and Construction, directing a large
professional staff responsible for a significant portion of capital
construction in the City. Previously, he worked for the New York
City Department of Environmental Protection, last serving as Chief
of Construction for Water and Sewer projects.
In his new role, Lipski will oversee the Comptroller’s Bureau
of Engineering and analyze construction and consultant contracts
in connection with the City’s capital program.
Lipski replaces Michael Rennard, who retired last year.
