THOMPSON ACTIVATES CLAIMS FRAUD HOTLINE |

Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. has opened a special Telephone
Hotline to the public to receive allegations of fraudulent claims
and lawsuits filed against the city.
The Comptroller urged anyone with information about a suspicious
claim or lawsuit - for instance, a questionable car accident, a
sidewalk fall or an exaggerated claim of injury or property damage
- to call the Hotline as soon as possible.
The number of the Hotline is (212) 669-4600.
The line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends
and holidays. All calls will be kept in the strictest confidence
"I urge all New Yorkers with information about fraudulent
claims to use this Hotline to report their suspicions," the
Comptroller said. "We all must do whatever we can to cut down
on fraud and ensure that our available resources are used to for
the benefit of our citizens."
