COMPTROLLER THOMPSON ACTIVATES CLAIMS FRAUD HOTLINE
New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. has opened a special Telephone Hotline to the public to receive allegations of fraudulent claims and lawsuits filed against the city.

The Comptroller urged anyone with information about a suspicious claim or lawsuit - for instance, a questionable car accident, a sidewalk fall or an exaggerated claim of injury or property damage - to call the Hotline as soon as possible.

The number of the Hotline is (212) 669-4600.

The line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. All calls will be kept in the strictest confidence

"I urge all New Yorkers with information about fraudulent claims to use this Hotline to report their suspicions," the Comptroller said. "We all must do whatever we can to cut down on fraud and ensure that our available resources are used to for the benefit of our citizens."
