The Association for a Better New York and One Hundred Black Men, Inc. will present New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. and former President William Jefferson Clinton with the 2002 Brotherhood Award on Wednesday, June 19. The award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in their commitments to brotherhood.

Since 1978, the Association and One Hundred Black Men have presented the awards to reaffirm the spirit of brotherhood. The ceremony will bring together city and state officials, as well as members and friends of both groups.

Thompson assumed office as the city's first African American Comptroller on January 1, 2002. Born in Brooklyn, he is a lifelong New Yorker, the son of a judge and public school teacher, and the proud product of New York City public schools.

In 1994, Mr. Thompson was appointed to the New York City Board of Education as its Brooklyn Member. Two years later, he began serving the first of four consecutive terms as its President.

The 25th Annual Brotherhood Awards & Reception will take place at the Sky Club, 200 Park Avenue, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. JP Morgan Chase and Pace University are cosponsoring the event.
