City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today released a report
listing accomplishments during his first 100 days in office. The
City's 42nd Comptroller, who assumed office Jan. 1st, initiated
a number of management improvements and cost-saving measures to
ensure the City's fiscal integrity, safeguard its investments and
protect its long-term financial health.
"Over the past 100 days, we laid a solid foundation for the
challenging work in the years ahead," Thompson said. "I
have reorganized my office to strengthen accountability. This new
structure enables my staff to keep a vigilant focus on the City's
operations and to call for improvements."
The report details a number of the Comptroller's key accomplishments,
including savings produced by audits, corporate governance reforms
and prevailing wage enforcement.
The Comptroller makes recommendations on City programs and operations,
fiscal policies, and financial transactions. The office is responsible
for more than $80 billion in pension assets, budgetary analysis,
audits and contract registrations. The office employs more than
700 professional staff members.
